The function of the Land Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications is to enhance and regulate all aspects of land transportation in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Land transport plays a vital role in the economic development of a nation, thus making it essential that this sector is properly regulated. This is critical to the success of the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030 initiative which mandates a diversified economy and a better life for all citizens and residents.

Based on the findings of a comprehensive study conducted in mid-2012 to develop the public transport sector in Bahrain, an all-inclusive strategic plan was drawn up following this study which presented findings about the current and future of the industry in the Kingdom, providing options that would improve public transportation services and making them the preferred choice for citizens and residents.  This will be implemented in a phased manner, with fundamental investment being made in infrastructure and vehicles in order to be able to sustain a high quality service and enable users to access all areas of the Kingdom, as required by recent business and economic growth.

The Land Transport Affairs within the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications is currently working on projects that will improve all aspects of public transport in Bahrain in order to make it a viable and alternative method of transport.
